Liszt and Brahms: Four-Handed Virtuosity

Liszt and Brahms Four-Handed Virtuosity explores the deep musical and cultural connection between Franz Liszt and Johannes Brahms. From the introspective landscapes of Valléed’Obermann and the elemental drama of Liszt’s Second Legend, the first half traces a journey through poetic reflection and transcendental virtuosity.

The second half brings both pianists together at one instrument, celebrating the fiery spirit of Hungary that captivated nineteenth-century Europe. Brahms’ beloved Hungarian Dances burst with rhythmic vitality and rustic charm, while Liszt’s four-handed Hungarian Rhapsodies transform folk-inspired melodies into dazzling, orchestral showpieces.

Together, these works showcase not only the brilliance of Romantic pianism, but the unique energy and intimacy of four-handed performance - where virtuosity becomes collaboration.
