Chant: Domine, quinque talenta
[from Chants de l’Église de Rome VIe -XIIIe siècles - Ensemble Organum (2003)]
Domine, quinque talenta
tradidisti mihi:
ecce alia quinque
superlucratus sum.
[Euge] serve fidelis
quia in pauca fuisti fidelis,
supra multa te constituam,
intra in gaudium domini tui.
Domine, Dominus noster,
quam admirabile est nomen tuum
in universa terra?
Quoniam elevata est
magnificentia tua super caelos.
“Master, you entrusted me
with five talents;
see, I have made
five more”.
- “Well done, good and faithful servant;
you have been faithful with a few things;
I will put you in charge of many things;
enter into the joy of your master!”
O Lord, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name
in all the earth?
you have set your glory
above the heavens.
