2 to 5: Garden
2. Garden
St Mark’s garden is a haven of green and encourages people to come in and spend time on the lawn.
The garden area has been substantially redeveloped in the 1990s. The intent has been to incorporate plants that bloom year round and can survive and flourish in an Australian environment. There is colour all year round.

The fountain is of longstanding. It was restored to use in 1982 dedicated to the memory of Gertrude May Fuller. The fountain was turned off when the water restrictions came in and has not been turned back on.

The path you will follow circles the church past the Vicarage, through the Calvary or memorial garden and then past the Hodgson Street gateway and the Old School before coming out between the community centre and the church.

The original vicarage in Moor Street was sold around 1889 as it was declared obsolete and cramped. A new vicarage was not built until 1910 under the incumbency of the Rev A.J. Drewett. It is a two-storey brick structure with cast-iron lacework verandahs
